Scavenger Hunt Binoculars

I’m excited to share with you this next craft of binoculars from empty paper rolls. I have these rolls left over from some tulle spools that I purchased but toilet paper or paper towel rolls would work just as good. I plan to take all the kids on an Earth Day scavenger hunt during the birthday party so these will be perfect for them to scope out some hard to find Earth treasures. Here is how I made them:

Scavenger Hunt Binoculars

  • Paper cutter
  • Twine
  • Scrap paper
  • Small piece thick card stock or cardboard
  • Glue gun
  • Hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Toilet paper rolls

  1. Cut scrap paper to size of paper roll. Wrap it and glue down.
  2. Glue coordinating paper at the bottom of the rolls.
  3. Glue twine where paper edges meet.
  4. Using the thicker card stock cut a small piece of paper about 2.5" long by 1" wide. About 3/4 of an inch from the ends fold the paper towards the center.
  5. Cover one of the bent sides with glue and hold onto roll until it dries.
  6. Repeat with other bent side.
  7. Punch a hole on the outer sides of the rolls.
  8. Wrap your twine through the holes and tie into a knot.

About Jamie

Hi! My name is Jamie with Five Whimsy Lane and I like to make things pretty. Parties especially. Glitter enthusiast...lover of all things chocolate & a partynista. Is that a word? Wifey to one fabulous husband and mother to 3 amazing children, Caleb, Leilani & Olivia who are my main inspiration. What more could a girl ask for? When I'm not scouring Pinterest for hours (I'm working honey, I promise) you can find me digging in my fairy garden, dancing with the kids or cleaning my Dyson. Who wants a dirty vacuum? My love for parties began over 10 years ago when I was planning my sons 1st birthday. I realized I had a huge passion for details (some might call it an obsession). After many years and wonderful birthday memories later Sweet Jelly Parties was born. Children's events and baby showers are our specialty but I'm a lover of all reasons to celebrate. Anniversaries, holidays, graduations, it's a Friday so let's throw a party.....You name it, I'll glitter it. Every once in a while though I like to trade in my juice box for a glass of wine which is why I'm also a Certified Wedding Planner.
