Hip Hop Hooray

Hip Hop Hooray!!

Hey everyone! It’s Jamie again from Sweet Jelly Parties. Can you believe we’re about to talk about Easter? Didn’t we just put away all the Christmas decorations? I know we did, but yes it seems that the little bunny is just around the corner. I’ve been wanting to thrown an Easter party since my kids were babies. I attempted it about two years ago, but they were too little to even know what was going on, so it was pretty much just me walking around by myself finding the eggs that I had hid. It was pretty pathetic, but I told my husband this year was going to be awesome! I was so excited to put something together and all I knew was that I wanted it to be different. I racked my brain for a while coming up with a theme. Then one day I was driving home from the store. It was one of those rare occasions where I was able to go grocery shopping by myself, almost like my own mini vacation. So, I’m driving home listening to some music, a little mom confession here…when I don’t have the kids with me I like to crank up the 90’s rap music and rock out to my little hearts content. I’m cruising down the street listening to “Hip Hop Hooray” by Naughty by Nature and it hits me!! An Easter dance/rap party, of course! Why didn’t I think of this before? It was defiantly a bit of a challenge to try and incorporate the two themes together but so much fun.

I started the design process with the paper products to help set the tone. I knew my hip hop bunny had to be cool so I went with a more modern bunny design and incorporated some black dots into the design. I reached out to Alyssa with Just a Little Sparkle, told her my ideas and she got to work bringing it all together. I set up a nibbling station to house all the snacks and treats. I made some turkey “Rabbit Raps” and used the Re-play snack cups to hold carrots and celery with ranch on the bottom to make a veggie patch. I sent the invitation over to Christina with Creative Little Cookie and asked her to make some coordinating cookies. She did an amazing job! There was a carrot patch consisting of snack cups filled with crushed Oreos for dirt and then I dipped strawberries in orange melting chocolate to make them look like carrots. The kids loved them. We had 24 karat gold cookies and B’s Main Squeeze carrot juice with his own gold chain. Then there were the cupcakes. I recently came across a company called Garden Cakes. 100% vegan. Cupcakes made from all organic vegetables? Yes please! What better time than Easter to enjoy a vegetable cupcake that tastes amazing! Love them! I finished off my table design with some grass mats found at Hobby Lobby for the tabletop, a white furry blanket for my backdrop, this awesome boom box piñata found at Target and some disco balls! It is an Easter dance party right?

The kids got their hip hop on by dressing up in bunny related props like ears and glasses and I made some 1karat gold necklaces out of a carrot jump rope, all found at Party City. They danced their little hearts out then nibbled on their treats at the “Bunny Break” table set up with Re-play products. There were two little ones at the party so I set up for them the divided plates with bunny ears using the napkins and pink silverware along with the no spill cups. The older kids got the flat plates, bowls, cups and carrot silverware. Fuzzy white bunny stool covers from Busy B’s Loft finished off the table.

Alyssa put together this adorable “Peeps for my Peeps” bag topper to fit on the standard size snack bags. She’s offering it up as a free download for all the Re-play readers here:
