Blackened Whitefish


With only a six minute cook time, this is a great weeknight meal option.

For the seasoning, mix paprika, brown sugar, oregano, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt in a bowl.

Pat tilapia swai filets dry and sprinkle the spice run over both sides of the fish.

Cook over medium-high heat for 3 minutes per side. Serve with limes to add a citrus splash to the final product.

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1-1/2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 6oz swai filets
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Preparation:

  1. Combine seasonings together in a bowl.
  2. Pat swai filets dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle spice rub on both sides of fish.
  3. Heat a large non-stick pan over medium high heat. Add oil and swirl to coat.
  4. Add fish to pan. Cook 3 minutes on each side until spices brown and inside flakes easily.
  5. Serve immediately with lime wedges.
